if you are receiving this email it's because I think of you as one of the big organizers of Cthulhu events in Europe. (note for the Spanish guys: I got your emails from Fred. If you think I should contact someone else for this, let me know the email address!)
I was already thinking before the last event in Liege that one big European event per year is not enough.
Then I see that Wolfgang is organizing a series of GoT tournaments around Europe; for more info:

So, I guess that there might be some interest to do something similar in CoC.
Step 1): location
Since Liege is already taken as the autum event, I would suggest to organize it somewhere else. The ideal location would have the following characteristics:
- well connected with other cities/countries in Europe
- a player base that can guarantee a minimum of presence
- an organizing group that can take care of local things
My suggestions (in sparse order):
- Paris: it has all the 3 characteristics listed above. The downside is that I know that the French group is also organizing always the regional in May, so I don't know if they are willing to get this on their shoulders too
- Amsterdam: the player base is missing but, on the other hand, the collision with local regional can be easily avoided
- Germany: I don't put a name of a city, but being Wolfgang there I think he might have a suggestion. I am not fully aware of a player base, either, but that is probably my lack of knowledge
- Madrid/Barcellona (Spain): I don't know very well the community, but in Liege the guys seemed very motivated, so they are in the list
Step 2): when
- End of March/April seems to me the best possible date. Winter is almost over, so there should be less problems with flights/trains being cancelled. It is before the regional season, so someone that wants the bye for the tournaments can participate. Plus, is reasonably far away from Liege both from the previous year and the same year point of view. Of course, this decision would be completely in charge of the local organizers.
- After the regional season: end of May/June. In this case, we could think of offering byes to the players that win a regional in Europe (non cumulative, otherwise if one wins 4 regionals is already in top8)
Step 3): what to offer to encourage people in participating
Well, the basic thing would be the Store Championship prizes. I think we might easily add some custom prizes, but most important we can link this tournament to Liege offering a bye for the Liege tournament (only for the winner or for both the finalists). In response, we could also say that Liege offers a bye for this tournament!
Plus: if you have a convention that takes place in your area, considering the possibility of linking the tournament to that would be a definite advantage.

There is a lot more stuff that can be discussed, but I think these are the things we should address first. For example, if you feel that taking care of the tournament organization and the post tournament reports is too much work, we can share the load. Someone takes care of the tournament, someone of the lists, for example.
Of course, the main question is actually another one: what do YOU think about this proposal? What does your community think about it? I know that for Liege people travel quite a bit...are you willing to travel another day during the year?
Feel free to forward this mail to everyone you think might be interested in the tournament (both to play and to organize), but please let's try to keep the "official" communication with a restricted number of people to make things easier (obviously, if someone wants to organize it and it is not in this list, add him/her)

Por lo tanto, supongo que podría haber algún tipo de interes en hacer algo similar para La Llamada de Cthulhu
Punto 1: Localización
Lieja ya se ha situado como evento de otoño, me permido sugerir organizar otros torneos en otros lugares. La ubitación ideal ha de cumplir las siguientes características:
- Bien comunicado con otras cidades/paises de Europa
- Una base de jugadores que garanticen un mínimo de presencia
- Un grupo organizativo que puede hacerse cargo de los asuntos locales
Mis sugererencias (sin orden especifico)
- París: Cumple las tres características antes indicadas. Lo malo es que el grupo frances también está organizando el regional en Mayo, así que no se si estarían dispuestos a hacerse cargo de este esfuerzo
- Amsterdam: la base de jugadores se ha perdido, pero por otra mano, el solapamiento con regionales locales puede evitarse fácilmente.
- Alemania: No pongo nombre de ciudad, pero estando Wolfgang aquí pienso que se le podría sugerir. No soy consciente de una base de jugadores, pero puede ser debido a mi falta de conocimiento
- Madrid/Barcelona (España): No se como se encuentra la comunidad, pero en Liege los chicos parecían muy motivados, así que los he puesto en la lista
Punto 2: Cuando
- Finales de Marzo/Abril: Me parece la mejor fecha posible. El invierno ya termina, así que no deberiamos tener problemas con vuelos/trenes cancelados. Es antes de la temporada de regionales, por lo que alguien que quiera el bye para un torneo podría participar. Además, está razonablemente lejos del evento de Liege del año anterior, y del mismo año. Por supuesto, esta decisión estaría al cargo de los organizadores locales
- Después de la temporada de regionales, finales de Mayo/Junio. En este caso, podríamos pensar en ofrecer bye a los jugadores que ganen un regional en Europa (no acumulativo, para evitar que si alguien gane 4 regionales pase directamente al top8
Punto 3: Que podemos ofrecer a la gnete para animarlos a participar
Bueno, básicamente serían los premos Store Championship. Creo que podríamos añadir algunos premios personalizados, el objetivo más importante es que se pueda vincular este torneo a Liege ofreciendo un bye (sólo para el ganador o para los finalistas). En respuesta, se podría además ofrecer en Liege un bye para este torneo.
Más cosas: si tienes una convención que se desarrolla en tuzona, se puede vincular el torneo para tomarlo como ventaja.

Hay más cosas que se pueden discutir, pero creo que estos puntos se han de discutir primero. Por ejemplo, si crees que la organización de un torneo y los reports tras el torneo son mucho trabajo, podriamos distribuir el esfuerzo. Alguien se encarga del torneo, algún otro de las listas, por ejemplo.
Por supuesto, el principal problema es en realidad otro ¿Que opinais VOSOTROS de esta propuesta? ¿Que piensa vuestra comunidad de ello?. Yo se que para Liege la gente se desplaza...¿estará dispuestos a desplazarse otro día durante el año?
